Ksenia Sobchak Explains Why She and Konstantin Bogomolov Have No Children

Journalist Ksenia Sobchak recently addressed public speculation regarding why she and her husband, director Konstantin Bogomolov, have no children together. Speaking on the VK Video show What Do They Think of You?, Sobchak described the decision as psychologically complex, noting that both partners already have children from previous marriages.

Public Perception Versus Family Reality

The marriage between Ksenia Sobchak and Konstantin Bogomolov, which began in 2019, has long been a subject of intense media scrutiny and social commentary. In a recent appearance on the show What Do They Think of You?, Sobchak addressed the caricature image often projected onto their relationship by the public. She noted that there is a common cliché that she is a boy-baba with a whip while Bogomolov is an intelligent, thin, and pulled out of a basement individual who came to scoop porridge with bread in the kitchen.

Sobchak pushed back against these stereotypes, stating that she finds the caricature disagreeable. Instead, she characterized their household dynamic differently, asserting that Kostya is a dictator, an abuser and the most important person in the family. She explained that this dynamic is what keeps her with the director, noting that he is a man who performed the taming of the shrew. Sobchak further emphasized that she views the director as the last husband and the main love of my life. She previously noted that she was attracted to his intelligence, principle, and inner strength, and during his 50th birthday celebration last year, she expressed that she feels fragile next to him and is willing to obey him because she can only submit to someone who is rightfully cooler, smarter and better than herself.

The Decision Regarding Shared Children

While the couple has been married since 2019, they have not had children together. Sobchak, who is a mother to a son, Platon, born in 2016 with actor Maxim Vitorgan, has been open about the gravity of this choice. She stated, In any case, for me this is a psychologically very difficult decision.

During her conversation with blogger Ida Galich on What Do They Think of You?, Sobchak compared her approach to motherhood with that of her peers, contrasting her own view with that of Galich, for whom motherhood became a natural continuation of a relationship. Sobchak reflected on her past experience, noting that in her previous marriage to Maxim Vitorgan, she only became a mother after four or five years of marriage. She framed the arrival of a child as a most serious change in life, suggesting that for her, it carries more weight than the institution of marriage itself. In the same discussion, she questioned whether Galich makes her own heirs part of her content and speculated on her own future, asking if she would remain an internet star in ten years or be forgotten.

Conflicting Narratives and Family Dynamics

While Sobchak has consistently cited the psychological complexity of the decision in her recent public appearances, other reports have highlighted different factors. Sobchak previously offered an alternative explanation, citing the perspective of her son, Platon, whom she described as being jealous regarding her attention and unwilling to compete in the family with someone else.

Regardless of the underlying reasons, the couple remains a fixture in the public eye. Both Bogomolov and Sobchak have children from their prior unions—Bogomolov is the father of a daughter, Anna—and they continue to navigate their careers and high-profile status while maintaining a united front against external speculation. Despite dense schedules and constant presence in the information field, the pair remains together, defying predictions of a quick divorce.
