A man in his 60s has died after being struck by a bus during a fatal incident at Dublin Airport early Thursday morning.
Gardaí responded to the scene at Corballis Road shortly after midnight, at approximately 00:10 am. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body has been taken to the mortuary at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, and the coroner has been notified. Authorities have preserved the scene for technical examination.
Traffic and Access at Dublin Airport
The DAA reported that the incident occurred on the main road leading to the airport, specifically between the roundabout and the terminal. Emergency services and airport police attended the scene immediately, and airport officials are currently assisting Gardaí with the investigation.
Some lanes on the main road remained closed on Thursday morning. While access is still available and traffic is moving, the DAA warned that further road closures and diversions may be required as the morning progresses.
Passengers traveling today are advised to allow extra time to reach the airport and to follow all posted diversions. A DAA spokesman stated, “Our deepest sympathies are with the loved ones of the deceased.”
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident. Road users who may have dashcam footage from the area between 11:45 pm on Wednesday and shortly after midnight on Thursday are asked to make that footage available.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Ballymun Garda station at (01) 666 4400, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
