President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. met with Filipino citizens repatriated from the Middle East on Monday, as tensions continue in the region. A total of 343 passengers, including 317 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and 26 dependents, arrived on a charter plane from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain.

Repatriation Efforts

The OFWs will receive financial aid, medical support, and reintegration services upon their return to the Philippines. The government, through the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), has been actively working to repatriate OFWs due to security concerns in the Middle East.

Thousands of OFWs have been safely brought home this month, with many more still requesting assistance. Despite the ongoing tension, DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac stated that there is currently no deployment ban for OFWs in the Middle East.
