Mattel Reveals Buildable UNSC M12 Warthog Set at San Diego Comic-Con

Mattel has officially revealed its 1:22 scale buildable UNSC M12 Warthog from the Brick Shop line at San Diego Comic-Con, timed alongside the launch of Halo: Campaign Evolved.

Halo fans celebrating the franchise’s Silver Anniversary have a new physical build to tackle as Mattel brings the iconic UNSC M12 Warthog into its growing Brick Shop product line. Officially debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, the vehicle that first captivated players on the original Xbox makes its transition into toy bricks with working features and detailed customization options pulled straight from the games.

San Diego Comic Con Debut and Brick Shop Expansion

The buildable Warthog marks Mattel’s first major gaming collaboration within the Brick Shop line, which has previously focused primarily on automotive icons alongside a few Masters of the Universe sets. ScreenRant reported exclusively that the set is launching just in time for the early access release of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Attendees at San Diego Comic-Con caught a first look at the sleek silhouette displayed at the Mattel booth, where visitors also had the chance to snag an exclusive poster. If you are attending San Diego Comic Con drive by the Mattel booth today July 23, you may recognize a familiar, sleek, silhouette. If you get there in time, you might even get lucky and snag an exclusive poster.

While the buildable model does not weigh the nearly 3 metric tons of its in-game counterpart, it offers a faithful 1:22 scale recreation of the classic vehicle according to official updates. While it may not weigh nearly 3 metric tons, the buildable UNSC M12 Warthog from Mattel Brick Shop is a 1:22 scale of sleek, classic UNSC driving machine. The model incorporates functional mechanics and pad-printed graphics designed to match the vehicle’s appearance across the franchise. Mattel has teamed up with Xbox and Halo Studios to create the buildable Warthog in celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary.

Piece Counts, Customization, and the Gauss Hog Conversion

The set itself is made up of 935 pieces and comes with two wheel cover sets, a custom decal sticker set, and some extra parts to change the look of the Warthog. Builders receive extensive customization gear, including two wheel cover sets, custom decal sticker sets, multiplayer-inspired emblems, and battle-damage markings. The physical model features a working front suspension, an opening hood, and an active front winch equipped with a seven-inch cable. That front suspension and tow bar are wild, and the Gauss Cannon looks just perfect for a figurine of the Master Chief to stand behind and blow imaginary enemies to pieces. Crucially, builders can reconfigure the model to create the M12G1 Gauss Hog by swapping out the standard rear turret for the signature Gauss Cannon that first debuted in Halo 2. The set also includes custom elements and decals that convert the standard M12 Warthog into the M12G1 Gauss Hog, replacing the rear turret with the vehicle’s signature Gauss Cannon which first appeared in Halo 2. You can combine the set with any other Mattel Brick Shop sets too, so if you’ve got some extra pieces, you could end up making a Warthog MegaZord!
