Mayon Volcano in the Philippines remains at Alert Level 3 as persistent volcanic activity continues, prompting authorities to enforce a no-re-entry policy within the danger zone. Ashfall advisories have been issued for nearby cities as plumes of smoke and ash rise from the volcano.

Mayon Volcano Activity Persists

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) maintains the Alert Level 3 status, indicating that an eruption is possible within days or weeks. An eruption was reported on January 23rd at 1654Z, with the volcanic ash cloud height currently unknown.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is strictly implementing a no-re-entry policy within the six-kilometer permanent danger zone around Mayon Volcano, according to the Philippine News Agency.

Legazpi City has issued an ashfall advisory to residents due to the ongoing activity. Smoke and ash plumes have been observed rising from the volcano in Albay Province, as reported by Xinhua.

Authorities continue to monitor Mayon Volcano closely for any changes in activity.
