MARAWI CITY — Sixty-four internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Marawi City received ₱60,000 each on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, as a labor cost subsidy for the reconstruction of their homes in the Most Affected Area (MAA), according to the Office of the Chief Minister’s Marawi Rehabilitation Program (OCM-MRP).
Marawi Rehabilitation Efforts Continue
The subsidy is part of the OCM-MRP’s Construction Materials Assistance (CMA) initiative, designed to help IDPs cover labor expenses for completing their home reconstructions following the 2017 Marawi siege.
MRP Project Manager and Parliament Member Said Shiek encouraged beneficiaries to utilize the assistance effectively and collaborate towards recovery. “Let us work together to ensure that all these programs and services available for you bring us progress after all the hardships that all of us have been through,” Shiek said.
Shiek emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to rehabilitation, stating, “All of these are the fruits of our mujahideens’ sacrifices. As long as MRP is here, we will continue to provide various forms of assistance to you within our mandate until you recover.”
The MRP is currently processing documents and validating the eligibility of remaining beneficiaries. Regular site visits are conducted to verify that the financial assistance is being used for intended house construction purposes.
Beneficiary Lajeb Mangata expressed gratitude for the support, stating it allowed his family to return home. “Maraming salamat po sa MRP-BARMM para sa lahat po ng suporta na natanggap namin gaya ng construction materials at itong labor cost subsidy na P60,000. Sa wakas, nakabalik na po kami sa aming tirahan sa Barangay Sabala Manao Proper,” Mangata said.
The CMA program includes the provision of construction materials (worth ₱240,000 per beneficiary, including formworks, concrete, masonry, plumbing, and electrical supplies), skills training in carpentry, masonry, and electrical installation, and the ₱60,000 labor cost subsidy.
The MRP partnered with the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education–Technical Education and Skills Development (MBHTE-TESD) to provide the skills training, enabling beneficiaries to also work as laborers. Members of the MRP Program Steering Committee (PSC), chaired by Deputy Chief Minister for Mainland Ali B. Solaiman, were present during the distribution.
