Authorities investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of U.S. TV host Savannah Guthrie, sealed off a road near her home and seized a vehicle late Friday night.

Investigation Intensifies in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance

A procession of cars from the FBI and the sheriff’s office, including forensics vehicles, were observed passing through a roadblock approximately two miles from Guthrie’s Arizona residence. At the same time, a Range Rover SUV was tagged and towed from a chain-restaurant parking lot.

Blood belonging to the 84-year-old was previously discovered on the front porch of her Tucson-area property. She was reported missing on February 1.

Investigators have collected several gloves, with the closest found two miles from Guthrie’s home, and submitted them for lab analysis, according to the sheriff’s office. DNA collected from Guthrie’s property did not match the missing woman or those in close contact with her.

Authorities have received purported ransom notes sent to news outlets, but two payment deadlines have passed without incident.

Police have stated that Guthrie has difficulty walking, has a pacemaker, and requires daily medication for a heart condition.

Following the release of videos depicting a masked individual on Guthrie’s porch, the Arizona sheriff’s department received over 4,000 calls within 24 hours. Roberto Villasenor, a former Tucson police chief, emphasized the importance of public input in such cases, stating, “In a situation like this, you really cannot do what’s been done without tips and public input. They have processed the scene. But once that’s done and exhausted, it’s hard to move forward without additional information coming in.”

The Pima County sheriff and the FBI have established phone numbers and a website for the public to submit tips regarding the apparent kidnapping. Several hundred detectives and agents have been assigned to the case.

The FBI has received more than 13,000 tips since February 1, the day Guthrie was reported missing. The sheriff’s department has taken at least 18,000 calls. The FBI stated on Thursday that every tip is reviewed for credibility and relevance and that the effort is a 24-hour operation, but would not comment on the specifics of the tips received.

Savannah Guthrie, co-host of the Today show, shared a home video montage of her mother on social media with the message: “Our lovely mom. We will never give up on her. Thank you for your prayers and hope.”
