Netizen Says This Is The Local Spot That “Feels The Least Like Singapore”

A shopping gallery in Singapore is drawing attention online for its distinctly European aesthetic, with some comparing it to a village in Switzerland. Tudor Court Shopping Gallery, located on Tanglin Road near Orchard Road, has become a popular spot for photos and a respite from the city’s modern shopping districts.

Tudor Court’s Unique Appeal

The gallery consists of a row of heritage buildings dating back to the 1920s, characterized by white walls and dark timber beams. One user on Xiaohongshu described it as “the spot in Singapore that feels the least like Singapore.”

Originally constructed as housing for postal workers at the nearby Tanglin Post Office, Tudor Court later served as the headquarters of the Singapore Tourism Board before being conserved in 2005. Today, it houses boutiques, art retailers, and small shops.

Netizens have shared photos and comments expressing similar sentiments, with some noting the gallery’s resemblance to streets in Northern Europe. One commenter remarked that the area around Tudor Court felt “way too chill” for a work environment, while others appreciated its relative lack of crowds compared to other shopping areas in the city.

Several users also expressed hope that the building will be preserved, as many other beautiful old buildings in Singapore have been demolished.
