The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s gas and power unit, NGPIS, has secured ISO 9001:2015 certification for its quality management systems. Awarded by the British Standards Institution, the certification follows a rigorous implementation process that began in December 2024 to align the company’s operational standards with globally accepted industry best practices.
Certification of NGPIS Operational Standards
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) recently announced that its Gas & Power Investment Services (NGPIS) unit achieved the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) certification. This designation, granted by the British Standards Institution (BSI), serves as an official recognition of the unit’s commitment to operational excellence and consistent service delivery.

Implementation began in December 2024, involving the standardization of core internal processes and a series of audits—both internal and external—to ensure the unit met the strict requirements set by the ISO standard. The initiative was spearheaded by the NGPIS Quality Management System team, with leadership credited to Okeoghene Esugo.
Formal Presentation at NNPC Towers
The achievement was formalized during a ceremony held at the NNPC Towers in Abuja. A delegation representing NGPIS, led by the Head of Planning and Commercial, Ayuba Rabo, presented the certificate to the Executive Vice President of Gas, Power and New Energy, Olalekan Ogunleye.
The ISO 9001:2015 standard is an internationally recognized framework designed to help organizations improve their efficiency and customer satisfaction. By adopting these standards, NGPIS aims to strengthen its institutional framework. The company stated that the certification is expected to bolster its competitiveness within the broader energy industry, providing a more reliable foundation for its ongoing operations and future business performance.
Corporate Growth and Institutional Framework
Nnpcgroup emphasizes that it maintains a focus on nurturing internal talent through professional development programs and mentorship, aiming to create clear pathways for career progression across its various subsidiaries.

For the NGPIS unit, this certification represents a shift toward more rigorous, audit-based management. By institutionalizing these quality controls, the company intends to reinforce confidence in its operational processes among stakeholders.
