Pakistani armed forces are currently conducting operations against the Afghan Taliban, a move described as addressing the “Fitna-al-Khwarij” by Radio Pakistan. These operations follow recent clashes between Pakistani and Afghan border forces.

The United Nations reports that approximately 100,000 people have been displaced due to the fierce fighting along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Al Jazeera reports that nearly 66,000 Afghans have been displaced amid the conflict.

A senior Pakistani security official, as reported by Dawn, stated that the Afghan Taliban is aware of Pakistan’s concerns and must take verifiable steps toward a ceasefire. The official emphasized the need for concrete actions to de-escalate the situation.

The Atlantic Council notes that while the conflict in Iran continues to draw international attention, the crisis between Afghanistan and Pakistan is worsening. The ongoing instability poses a significant regional security challenge.

The situation remains fluid, with continued military operations and displacement of civilians reported along the border region.
