Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed regional peace and stability during a phone conversation, reaffirming support for Doha following recent hostilities involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

Pakistan and Qatar Discuss Regional De-escalation

The two leaders exchanged Eid greetings and goodwill messages, while also urging dialogue and de-escalation. Pakistan recently offered to host US-Iran talks in Islamabad.

“We agreed on the urgent need for advancing peace efforts, encourage de-escalation, and promote dialogue to restore regional peace and stability,” Sharif wrote on X. He also expressed condolences for the loss of life resulting from the conflict, noting Qatar’s position as a close ally of the United States in the Gulf.

Sharif reiterated Islamabad’s belief that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable paths to resolving conflicts in the region. Both leaders emphasized the importance of reducing tensions and preventing further deterioration of the security situation.

Sheikh Tamim appreciated Pakistan’s support and proactive diplomatic engagement, acknowledging Islamabad’s efforts to promote peace and its advocacy for restraint and dialogue among all parties involved.

Pakistan and Qatar share strong bilateral relations, encompassing energy cooperation, labor ties, and regional diplomacy. Qatar has also played a mediating role in several regional conflicts, establishing itself as a key diplomatic actor in the Gulf.

The two leaders agreed to maintain close contact as the situation evolves, signaling continued coordination between Islamabad and Doha amid a volatile regional environment.
