Pakistani Jet Downed in Jalalabad

“A Pakistani fighter jet was shot down in the sixth district of Jalalabad city, and its pilot was captured alive,” police spokesman Tayeb Hammad said.

Wahidullah Mohammadi, spokesman for the military in eastern Afghanistan, confirmed Afghan forces downed the Pakistani jet and captured the pilot.

An AFP journalist reported hearing a jet over Jalalabad, followed by two explosions near the city’s airport.

Islamabad’s foreign ministry spokesman Tahir Hussain Andrabi refuted the claim, stating, “That’s a false claim. Totally untrue.”

Pakistan launched air strikes on Friday on Kabul and Kandahar, targeting areas where Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada is based. These attacks followed a border offensive initiated by Afghan forces against Pakistan late Thursday, which the Taliban government said was in response to prior Pakistani strikes on Afghanistan.
