Commitment to UNCLOS

The Philippines reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the South China Sea dispute based on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). The country will only accept a Code of Conduct (COC) in the South China Sea that is consistent with UNCLOS, as stated by Philippine officials.

ASEAN as Business and People-Centric

The Philippines aims to ensure that ASEAN remains focused on being “business and people-centric” during its 2026 chairmanship. This vision emphasizes the importance of economic opportunities and the well-being of the people within the ASEAN community, according to the Secretary General.

Foreign Affairs Discussions
