Strategic Expansion of the Gemstone Sector

During a high-level meeting focused on the development of the gemstone sector, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need to maximize the utility of indigenous resources. The Prime Minister tasked the Planning Ministry with preparing a detailed plan to enhance the export of precious stones.

The initiative aims to transition the sector toward a more structured export model, ensuring that local gems are processed and marketed more effectively on the global stage.

International Promotion and Infrastructure

To unlock the sector’s untapped potential, Pakistan will host its first international gemstone exhibition in July. This event is intended to attract global interest and investment in the country’s mineral wealth.

In addition to promotional events, the government plans to set up dedicated gem export centres. These facilities are expected to streamline the export process and provide better infrastructure for the gemstone trade.
