Riga, Latvia – A three-story building in Riga is being transformed into a community center through a collaborative effort between local church members and international partners, aiming to provide outreach and support to the city’s residents.

New Community Centre Development

The building, purchased in October 2023, is undergoing extensive renovations and is anticipated to open in October 2026. The project is a significant milestone for the conference, according to Lubova Tihomirova, the project director.

The centre builds upon nearly three decades of ministry, originating with a summer camp initiative launched 28 years ago. Tihomirova explained that the community centre aims to be a space for growth—physically, spiritually, and emotionally—for people of all ages.

Funding and Partnerships

The project has received substantial financial support from several sources, including a US$350,000 contribution from the 13th Sabbath Offering, administered by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, €100,000 from the Baltic Union Conference, and €70,000 from the Sixth Riga Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Renovation work began in the summer of 2025. While structurally sound, the building required significant investment to meet modern standards. A partnership facilitated by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) with TX Foundation, a sponsor based in Taiwan, enabled the renovation of the ground floor. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in July 2025, hosting representatives from TX Foundation.

Further support came in autumn 2025 through the Global Mission Impact Fund (US$90,000), coordinated by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. This funding will support the centre’s continued development and future programme planning.

Currently, the team is focused on legal registration, designing interest-based clubs, preparing ministry programmes, and continuing renovations across all three floors.

“Our vision is to create a welcoming place where children, youth and adults alike can come, learn, grow, and experience God’s love in a practical way,” said Tihomirova. “God has led us this far, and we trust He will finish what He started.”
