As Valentine’s Day approaches, research from Mozio and Holafly has identified several cities as romantic destinations for couples. The studies considered factors ranging from wedding-related searches to the density of romantic facilities like spas and restaurants.
Most Romantic Cities According to Recent Studies
Mozio’s research ranked Venice, Italy, as the most romantic city in the world, awarding it a score of 9.56 out of 10. The city received high marks for its volume of wedding-related searches and the abundance of romantic hotels and restaurants per 100,000 inhabitants, as well as the availability of gondola rides.
Florence, Italy, followed in second place with a score of 7.86, recognized for its artistic beauty and accessibility for tourists. Marrakesh, Morocco, secured third place with a score of 7.5, offering a magical and immersive holiday experience.
Udaipur, India, known as the “Venice of the East” and the “City of Lakes,” ranked fourth, recording 153,000 annual wedding searches. Cities including Rome, San Francisco, London, Paris, and Edinburgh also appeared in Mozio’s top ten list.
A separate study by Holafly, utilizing a Romantic Experience Density Index, presented different results. London topped Holafly’s list due to its diverse romantic facilities, including historic parks and luxury restaurants.
New York City was named the runner-up in Holafly’s research, attributed to its “cinematic romance” and leisurely activities in Central Park. Prague, Buenos Aires, and Santorini were also highlighted as romantic destinations.
Both studies indicate Italian cities consistently rank among the most romantic destinations, offering couples a variety of options for Valentine’s Day celebrations.
