Savannah Guthrie Issues New Plea to Kidnapper

Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills neighborhood in the early hours of Feb. 1, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which stated that police believe she was abducted by an intruder. In the July 27 video, Savannah Guthrie described her family’s ongoing suffering.

I’m coming on today with a very specific message, Savannah Guthrie said, as reported by Usnews. It has been months since our mom was taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about our situation has changed. We have done our part, and we will never stop looking for her.

Direct Appeal and Ongoing Investigation

Directing her comments to the unidentified kidnapper, Savannah Guthrie urged them to come forward and reveal her mother’s location. So I am asking you — begging you — to do the right thing now. Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her. I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing, she stated.

The investigation has seen few public developments as time has passed. According to Fox News, no suspects have been publicly identified, and the results of DNA testing and other forensics have not been made public. Earlier in the case, two men were detained, questioned, and released without charges after searches, and neither has been accused of wrongdoing.

Authorities and news organizations have also dealt with communication from unknown parties. Three news organizations reported receiving purported ransom notes and turned them over to investigators. The FBI has discounted some of the ransom notes as extortion attempts while continuing to evaluate others that might be legitimate, though the federal agency has not specified which notes might be genuine. A second note sent to media outlets indicated that Nancy Guthrie had died, but contained no apology nor request for payment for the release of her body.

Search Efforts and Rewards Offered

In the weeks following her disappearance, volunteers and search teams scoured nearby desert terrain filled with cactuses, bushes, and boulders. A volunteer group also recently searched for her body near the Arizona-Mexico border.

To encourage tips from the public, a financial incentive remains in place. Savannah Guthrie and her family are offering a reward of over $1 million for the return of her mother or information leading to her recovery. Additionally, there is a separate reward for information that leads to an arrest that can be obtained anonymously through Tucson’s Crime Stoppers affiliate. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the FBI.
