Shah Alam, Malaysia – A 15-year-old male student pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 16-year-old female student in a stabbing incident at a secondary school in Bandar Utama in October 2025.

Stabbing Incident Details

The boy, who was a Form One transitional class student at the time of the incident, entered the plea after the charge was read out in Mandarin before Justice Adlin Abdul Majid. Proceedings were held behind closed doors with only the teenager’s family present, as the case involves a juvenile.

The charge alleges the teenager murdered a Form Three student in the girls’ toilet at a national secondary school in Bandar Utama between 9:20 a.m. and 9:35 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2025. The charge is framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a potential punishment of the death penalty or imprisonment of 30 to 40 years, and up to 12 strokes of whipping if a death sentence is not imposed.

Court Proceedings and Legal Representation

The prosecution is being led by deputy public prosecutors Aqharie Durranie Aziz and Zamariah Zarifah Aris. The boy’s lawyer, Kitson Foong, stated the plea was recorded after the charge was read again.

“My client understands the charge and wants the case to be tried, so the court has fixed March 6 for the next case management,” Foong told reporters. At that proceeding, trial dates will be set.

The defense anticipates the proceedings will last approximately 14 days, around July, and aims to avoid prolonged delays. The court has ruled that only the defense team and the prosecution will be allowed to attend the trial.

Access to Courtroom Limited

Two watching-brief counsels representing the Malaysian Bar and Suhakam (the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia) will be present in chambers during the proceedings. However, watching-brief counsel for the victim’s family were not permitted to attend, as family members may be called as witnesses.

“So only a limited number of parties will be in court to avoid affecting the accused’s mental well-being,” Foong added.

The teenager is currently being held at the Puncak Alam Correctional Centre, a juvenile prison, pending trial. The victim was found dead in the school toilet, suspected of being stabbed repeatedly.

A psychiatric report confirmed the teenager was fit to stand trial on Jan. 16, according to a Petaling Jaya Magistrates’ Court.
