Mount Semeru in Indonesia has erupted again, continuing a period of heightened activity that began December 17th. The volcano has exhibited ongoing eruptions, lava flows, and tremors, prompting ongoing monitoring and advisories.

Mount Semeru Eruption Updates

On Friday, December 26, 2025, Mount Semeru erupted again, according to reports. Volcanic ash was reported up to 15,000 feet (4,600 meters) in the air, extending northeast.

Tremors from a lava flood originating from Mount Semeru lasted for over three hours. The volcano has been exhibiting years of activity, with six eruptions reported on Sunday alone.

A Volcanic Ash Advisory was issued, stating that volcanic ash reached Flight Level 150 (FL150) as of August 27th, though reports indicate continued activity through December 23rd, 2025.
