Karachi, Pakistan, 21 February 2026 — Graduates from the Aga Khan University (AKU) Medical College in Pakistan are now eligible to apply to practice medicine in Singapore, according to a recent announcement by Singapore’s Ministry of Health.
AKU Medical Graduates Eligible for Singaporean Licensure
Medical doctors trained at AKU, regardless of their graduation year, can apply for registration with the Singapore Medical Council, provided they meet the council’s requirements.
This new accreditation expands the number of international destinations where AKU medical graduates can pursue their careers and apply their education. Graduates are currently eligible for licensure pathways in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, the Middle East, and now Singapore.
“An AKU medical education equips students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to be change makers and to succeed globally,” said Professor Karim Damji, dean of AKU’s Medical College in Pakistan.
AKU’s MBBS degree is fully recognized in Pakistan and provides a strong foundation for postgraduate training and international medical practice.
Established in 1983, AKU Medical College is part of the Aga Khan University’s Faculty of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan. The college works closely with the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the University Hospital to provide high-quality educational programs and medical practice.
