A man and his two daughters were found dead at a home in Tongaat, South Africa, in a suspected murder-suicide, police say. The mother of the children alleges her estranged husband poisoned them before taking his own life.

Nicole Govender, the mother of the two girls, shared her story, recounting the final hours before the deaths of her daughters, aged 5 and 7. She stated she became concerned when she couldn’t reach her husband and children.

Upon arriving at the home, Govender found her daughters and estranged husband unresponsive. Authorities confirmed the deaths and are investigating the incident as a suspected murder-suicide.

According to reports, the children were found with a substance believed to be poison. The father’s motive remains under investigation.
