Wangchuk stated on X that the move followed prolonged negotiations with the government and was influenced by the risk of possible violence in the country. He noted that 65 Members of Parliament from various political parties had either visited him or signed letters urging him to end the strike.

This legislation is designed to protect student interests by introducing tougher punishments for offenders and the creation of fast-track courts to ensure swift justice.

The legislative timeline involves the proposal being discussed by the Union Cabinet on Friday, with the government aiming to introduce and pass the Bill in Parliament next week.
