Multiple bushfire warnings are in effect across Victoria, with residents near the Otways fire urged to evacuate immediately. Authorities are actively conducting door-to-door notifications, but residents are advised not to wait for assistance and to leave today.
Otways Fire
The fire burning near Carlisle River remains out of control. Residents in numerous communities are under an immediate evacuation order.
LEAVE NOW. Police and SES are conducting door-knocking in the area, but may not reach every property. Residents are urged not to wait for police.
Impacted areas include Aire Valley, Barongarook, Barongarook West, Barramunga, Barwon Downs, Beech Forest, Benwerrin, Carlisle River, Chapple Vale, Charleys Creek, Coram, Crowes, Dinmont, Ferguson, Forrest, Gellibrand, Gerangamete, Glenaire, Johanna, Kawarren, Kincaid, Lavers Hill, Lovat, Mount Sabine, Murroon, Olangolah East, Pile Siding, Simpson, Tanybryn, Tulloh, Upper Gellibrand, Weeaproinah, Wimba, Wyelangta, Yaugher, and Yeodene.
MONITOR CONDITIONS. The situation is dynamic and can change rapidly. Residents are advised to stay informed.
Those impacted also include Carlisle Road and Irrewillipe, Irrewillipe East, Tomahawk Creek, and all other communities around the perimeter of the Carlisle River and Kennedys Creek fire.
Walwa Fire
In Victoria’s north-east, the Walwa fire, near the NSW border, continues to burn.
LEAVE NOW. Conditions may deteriorate quickly, and emergency services may be unable to provide assistance to those who remain.
STAY INFORMED. While there is currently no immediate threat, residents should remain vigilant and plan for potential changes. Impacted areas include Walwa, Guys Forest, Tintaldra and surrounds, Nariel Valley and the area surrounding Mount Gibbo, north end of Lake Dartmouth.
