A former teacher has pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the sexual assault of a child, with police confirming she recently gave birth to the victim’s baby. The woman, Naomi Tekea Craig, appeared in court where her bail was extended.

Sexual Assault Charges and Recent Developments

Craig pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual penetration of a child aged under 13 years and five counts of sexual penetration of a child aged over 13 and under 16 years. She also pleaded guilty to one count each of indecent dealing with a child under 13 years, indecent dealing with a child aged over 13 and under 16 years, a person who persistently engaged in sexual conduct with a child aged under 16 years, and possession of child exploitation material.

Police Commissioner Col Blanch confirmed last month that a DNA test had been conducted and police believe Craig gave birth to a baby in January fathered by the child she is accused of sexually assaulting.

Craig was employed as a teacher at the Frederick Irwin Anglican School at Meadow Springs near Mandurah, about 50km south of Perth. Her teaching licence was suspended after she was charged.

Registrar Jacquie Kubacz extended Craig’s bail until the next hearing, which is scheduled for July 3.
