The parking lot in front of the headquarters has been converted into a seating area, with plastic chairs set out for the crowd expected to arrive in full force after the ballots close at 17:00 local time (10:00 GMT).

The party’s leading PM candidate, Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, arrived earlier with several senior party leaders to monitor the counting process. Veerayooth Kanchoochat, another of the party’s prime ministerial candidates, stated that executives are preparing for strategic discussions.

The party, previously known as Move Forward, won the election in 2023 but was blocked from forming a government by the unelected senate and the constitutional court. The court ruled that its proposals to reduce punishments under the lese majeste law amounted to an attempt to overthrow the political system, leading to the party’s dissolution and a ban on its leaders from politics.

Veerayooth stated that this time is different, as the senate no longer has the authority to vote for the prime minister. He added that if the party wins the election, they will attempt to form a coalition as soon as possible.
