/ The Gulf Cooperation Council condemned, on Tuesday, the Israeli aggression and indiscriminate bombing of the Gaza Strip, and the forced displacement of civilians, demanding the resumption of the humanitarian truce and stopping the war completely.

Following the end of a summit held in the Qatari capital, Doha, with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the countries issued a final statement in which they affirmed that “the Cooperation Council stands by the Palestinian people, supports it to alleviate the suffering of the residents of the Gaza Strip, and extends a helping hand to rebuild what the Israeli war machine destroyed in its attacks.” on the sector over the past years.

The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council expressed “deep concern and great dissatisfaction with the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, and condemned the escalation of acts of violence and indiscriminate bombing carried out by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, the forced displacement of the civilian population, and the destruction of civilian facilities and infrastructure, including residential buildings.” Schools, health facilities and places of worship are in clear violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”

The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries appreciated the joint mediation efforts of the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America, which resulted in reaching an agreement for a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip, stressing the necessity of immediately resuming this humanitarian truce, in order to achieve a complete and sustainable ceasefire.

The summit called for ensuring the access of humanitarian and relief aid and all basic needs, the resumption of the work of electricity and water lines, and the entry of fuel, food and medicine to the residents of Gaza.

The war broke out between Israel and Hamas after a surprise attack launched by the movement on military sites and residential areas adjacent to the Gaza Strip, which led to the killing of 1,200 people, most of them civilians, including women and children, and 239 people were kidnapped, according to the Israeli authorities.

Israel responded with intense air, sea, and ground bombardment on the besieged Gaza Strip, followed by a ground operation, which temporarily stopped with the start of the truce, before its collapse.

The death toll in Gaza reached 15,899 people, 70% of whom were women and children, in addition to about 42,000 people being injured, while the number of missing people reached nearly 7,000 missing persons, according to Hamas authorities.
