The Central Swimming Federation has set next April 1 as the date for holding the Iraqi Olympic Swimming Championship in Baghdad with the participation of (20) clubs representing Baghdad and the provinces.
Vice President of the Central Federation for Swimming and Aquatics, Hashim Al-Khazraji, said in a statement exclusively to Al-Sabah newspaper and followed by the (INA): “The Iraqi Clubs Olympic Swimming Championship is the first local activity within the annual curriculum for the current year (2024), indicating that the activities of his federation include Three categories compete for first places in order to break previous records.”
He added, “All events are held under the supervision of the technical committee, which takes it upon itself to select the first-place finishers and the distinguished ones to support the national teams in preparation for the upcoming external competitions,” indicating that the participating categories are the junior category for the ages of (13-15) years, and the youth between (16-18). years, while applicants are (19) years old and above.
Regarding the readiness of the People’s Olympic Swimming Pool, he explained, “There is an agreement concluded with one of the specialized companies that contributed to the construction of the Italian swimming pool in Diwaniyah Governorate and will soon begin conducting a comprehensive maintenance campaign for the swimming pool, acknowledging that this facility, since its construction in the year (1983), has not been subject to maintenance work in accordance with its international controls.” Therefore, the Federation was keen to take advantage of the current suspension period to accomplish this, explaining that the People’s Pool is the only one that hosts the training of national teams in all categories, as well as local activities.
