Three people were rescued after a jet ski crashed into the east pier in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland, on Sunday afternoon. The Marine Rescue Coordination Centre received a report of the incident just before 4 p.m., and Coast Guard and lifeboat personnel responded to the scene.
Jet Ski Crash in Dún Laoghaire Leads to Rescue
The Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Dublin received a call from a member of the public at approximately 3:50 p.m. reporting the jet ski collision. All three individuals on board entered the water following the impact with the pier.
The Dún Laoghaire Inshore lifeboat and the local Coast Guard unit were immediately dispatched. All three casualties were recovered from the water, initially assisted by a rigid inflatable boat (RIB).
Lifeboat crew members met the RIB at the National Yacht Club pontoon to assess the casualties. Two required care, and one received urgent first-aid attention.
Paramedics transported one of the individuals to the hospital for further medical assessment. The lifeboat volunteers remained at the scene for over an hour.
The Department of Transport confirmed the incident, stating that all three casualties were recovered and two were transported to the hospital.
