ICE Shooting in Minneapolis

The woman has been identified as Dolal Idd, according to the Star Tribune. She was shot by an ICE agent during a task force operation in the area of South 26th Street and East 28th Avenue. Details regarding the initial interaction and the reason for the operation remain under investigation.

Minneapolis Public Schools canceled classes for the remainder of the week following the shooting and a subsequent chaotic scene at Roosevelt High School, where an apparent ICE presence caused concern among students and staff. The district cited the need to provide space for students and staff to process the event.

Former President Donald Trump defended ICE following the shooting, stating the agency needs to be able to do its job. He also called for facts to be established before drawing conclusions about the incident.

According to the BBC, the shooting unfolded second-by-second as follows: ICE agents were attempting to serve a warrant on a suspect when Idd reportedly approached the agents with a weapon. An agent then discharged their firearm, striking Idd, who later died from her injuries.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting. No further details have been released at this time.
