Former President Donald Trump is considering a further military deployment to the Middle East, potentially sending a second aircraft carrier to the region amid heightened tensions with Iran. This comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with officials in Washington D.C. for discussions, including those related to Iran.
Trump Weighs Military Options
Trump indicated he might authorize sending a second aircraft carrier to strike Iran should ongoing negotiations fail to yield a satisfactory outcome. He described the Iranian regime as “very dishonest,” according to reports. He stated that current nuclear talks with Iran are “different” than previous attempts, and that Netanyahu “wants a good deal.”
The former president has warned of “something very tough” if U.S. demands are not met by Iran. He has not specified the nature of these demands.
Netanyahu’s visit to Washington is expected to focus heavily on Iran and regional security concerns. Trump acknowledged the Israeli Prime Minister’s desire for a favorable agreement regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
