Trump: US Exit From Iran Imminent – Deal or No Deal

President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that U.S. forces will end operations in Iran “very soon,” suggesting a timeline of two to three weeks, as his administration continues discussions with Iranian authorities alongside its ongoing aerial campaign.

Trump: Iran Operations to End Within Weeks

Asked about the impact of rising fuel prices since the start of the war on February 28, Trump said, “All I have to do is leave Iran, and we’ll be doing that very soon, and they’ll be tumbling down.” He added that he anticipates completing the operation “within maybe two weeks, maybe a couple of days longer.”

Trump also emphasized that the conclusion of U.S. operations is not contingent on reaching an agreement with Iran, which has retaliated by effectively closing the crucial Strait of Hormuz to oil tanker traffic.

“They don’t have to make a deal with me,” he told journalists in the Oval Office, following the signing of an executive order aimed at restricting mail-in voting, which he claims without evidence is susceptible to fraud.

“When we feel that they are, for a long period of time, put into the stone ages and they won’t be able to come up with a nuclear weapon, then we’ll leave,” Trump said. “Whether we have a deal or not, it’s irrelevant.”

‘Get your own oil’

Trump reiterated his call for other nations to secure oil by navigating the Strait of Hormuz independently, after many allies declined U.S. requests for military assistance to ensure tanker traffic flow.

“If France or some other country wants to get oil or gas, they’ll go up through the Hormuz Strait, they’ll go right up there, and they’ll be able to fend for themselves,” he said. “What happens with the strait we’re not going to have anything to do with, because these countries, China, China will go up and they’ll fuel up their beautiful ships… and they’ll take care of themselves. There’s no reason for us to do it.”

The president noted that the war could potentially end sooner if a deal is reached.

“It’s possible that we’ll have a deal because they want to make a deal. They want to make a deal more than I want to make a deal. But in a fairly short period of time, we’ll be finished,” Trump said. “Now we have a group of people that’s very – that are very different. They’re much more reasonable,” he added, expressing optimism about the ongoing talks.
