Saudi Arabia and eight Muslim-majority countries have agreed to join United States President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry said today. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also accepted an invite to join the board, his office said.
Board of Peace Membership
The joint decision from the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates comes as they express support for Trump’s “peace efforts” regarding the Gaza conflict, according to a statement from Riyadh.
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry later announced on X that it had also accepted an invitation to join the board.
Invitations were extended to numerous world leaders, requesting a US$1 billion contribution for a permanent seat. The Saudi statement did not mention any financial commitment.
Initially intended to focus on Gaza’s rebuilding, the board’s charter appears broader in scope and aims to potentially rival the United Nations, drawing criticism from some US allies, including France.
