Two men have been arrested in Cork, Ireland, after authorities seized drugs worth €769,000 and €40,000 in cash.
The men, in their 30s and 40s, were arrested by gardaí from Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit.
Gardaí seized €700,000 of cocaine, €60,000 of cannabis and over €40,000 cash, during searches in the Douglas, Cork area on Tuesday.
Follow-up searches were conducted by the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) in the Dublin 14 area, on New Year’s Eve, resulting in the seizure of cannabis worth €9,000, along with €4,000 cash.
The seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.
Both of the arrested men have been charged and are scheduled to appear before a special sitting of Cork District Court on Friday morning, at approximately 10.30am.
This seizure is part of Operation Tara, a national anti-drugs strategy focused on disrupting, dismantling and prosecuting drug trafficking networks at all levels.
