UK Report: Pakistan & Bangladesh Migrants Fake Gay Asylum

A network of immigration advisers in the UK is allegedly charging migrants from Pakistan and Bangladesh thousands of pounds to manufacture fake gay asylum claims to secure residency.

  • Immigration advisers are charging up to £7,000 to create fraudulent asylum applications.
  • Schemes include providing fake letters, photographs, and tickets to gay events.
  • Pakistan had the highest number of asylum claims based on sexual orientation in 2023.

The Manufacturing of Claims

Undercover investigations revealed that advisers are fabricating evidence to help migrants avoid deportation. This includes providing letters from third parties claiming to have engaged in physical sex with the applicant.

Advisers suggest that successful applications allow migrants to live and work in the UK while becoming eligible for government benefits. Some advisers even recommended that applicants bring their wives from Pakistan by claiming the spouses are lesbians.

The fabricated stories focus on the fear of returning to Pakistan or Bangladesh, where gay sex is illegal.

Evidence of Fake Gay Asylum Claims

Individuals attending a support group for gay and lesbian asylum seekers in Worcester admitted they were not gay. One man, Zeeshan, stated that “not even 0.01%” of the people present were actually gay.

Another attendee remarked that applicants must be “really shameless” when undergoing interviews with the Home Office to successfully secure asylum.

Rising Application Trends

There has been a steep rise in asylum claims from Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals who originally entered the UK on study or work visas.

According to 2023 data, Pakistan had the most asylum claims citing sexual orientation, followed by Bangladesh.
