Vietnam has emerged as a global bright spot under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), demonstrating resilience and laying a foundation for future development, according to an expert in Singapore.
Vietnam’s Resolute Leadership
Professor Vu Minh Khuong of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy described the CPV’s leadership as “resolute” during the 2020–2025 term, expressing confidence in the country’s ability to overcome challenges.
Despite facing global economic fluctuations, including issues related to taxes, vaccines, and tariffs, Vietnam has maintained stability, with its people increasingly united in support of their leadership during difficult times. This unity in hardship is a long-standing cultural trait, Khuong noted.
Vietnam’s resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic was attributed not only to available resources but also to both domestic and international support, guided by the principles of maintaining friendly relations with all countries and mutual assistance.
Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development
Over the past five years, while the global economy experienced slower growth, Vietnam stood out as a period of strong progress. The country is focused on becoming an industrialised and developed nation.
Vietnam’s strong digital infrastructure, including widespread internet and mobile phone usage, and adoption of tools like ChatGPT, demonstrates its ability to embrace new technologies. The construction of 3,000 km of roads connecting most provinces and cities nationwide has been a major success.
Infrastructure development has progressed rapidly, encompassing airports, highways, and 500kV power lines. There is hope for future expansion to include subway systems in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Anti-Corruption Efforts
Significant progress has been made in anti-corruption efforts over the past five years, with no “off-limits zones” and all violations addressed regardless of rank.
