Israel launched “Operation Roaring Lion” on Saturday, striking strategic targets in Iran in coordination with the United States military, according to Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir. The operation aims to dismantle Iran’s capabilities that pose an existential threat to Israel’s security.
Operation Roaring Lion Begins
Zamir stated the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is operating at a high level of readiness, both defensively and offensively. He described the operation as “significant, decisive, and unprecedented.”
The operation follows “Operation Rising Lion” last June, which disrupted Iran’s nuclear project and ballistic missile array. That operation included “Operation Midnight Hammer,” where U.S. aircraft struck Iran’s nuclear facilities, establishing historic cooperation between the IDF and the U.S. military.
Despite sustaining significant damage, Zamir said the Iranian regime has continued to pursue its nuclear project, restore ballistic missile production, and destabilize the region through support of terrorist groups.
Recent months have involved joint operational planning between the IDF and the U.S. military, coordinated by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Commander of CENTCOM. Israeli Air Force pilots are currently striking hundreds of targets across Iran, in coordination with U.S. strikes.
Air defense systems and the Navy have been deployed to defend Israel’s skies and shores, and ground forces are positioned along borders. Home Front Command forces, alongside the Israel Police and emergency services, are prepared to protect civilians.
Zamir cautioned that “there is no hermetic defense” and warned against underestimating the enemy’s ability to inflict harm. He expressed confidence in Israel’s courage, determination, and the justice of its cause.
He urged citizens to follow instructions from the Home Front Command, stating strict adherence saves lives. Zamir highlighted the preparedness of IDF forces, praising their determination, professionalism, and excellence.
“At this time, we are focused solely on victory,” Zamir said. He affirmed that any enemy threatening Israel’s security will pay a heavy price and called for trust in the IDF’s determination.
Drawing on the story of Esther, Zamir emphasized the responsibility for Israel’s destiny rests with its own courage, initiative, unity, and willingness to fight for freedom and peace. He expressed trust in the IDF soldiers and commanders, urging them to carry forward the vision of their forefathers.
“Go forth on your missions. An entire nation stands behind you – until victory,” Zamir concluded.
