Severe thunderstorms are expected to impact several regions of South Africa on Friday, with KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) authorities warning residents to take precautions. Widespread rain and damaging coastal winds and waves are also forecast.

Severe Weather Forecast for South Africa

The KZN government has urged residents to “take no chances” as violent storms approach, according to reports. The South African Weather Service has indicated that severe thunderstorms could reach Level 5 intensity.

Gauteng province is also bracing for severe thunderstorms. Warnings have been issued for potential disruptions and localized flooding.

Cape Town can expect brief showers on Thursday. Earlier in the week, warm temperatures and thundershowers were reported across the country, with morning fog in some areas.

Damaging coastal winds and waves are anticipated alongside the widespread rainfall, posing a risk to coastal communities.
