A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving van in the early hours of Tuesday on the Gurgaon–Faridabad Road, with her cries for help going unheard for nearly three hours due to dense fog and deserted stretches of road. Two van drivers have been arrested in connection with the case, and an identification parade is scheduled.

Gurgaon–Faridabad Road Gang-Rape Investigation

Faridabad police are withholding the identities of the accused as the survivor has yet to formally identify them in a parade. The suspects, drivers from Jhansi and Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, were arrested by the Sector 48 crime branch, and the Maruti Suzuki Eeco allegedly used in the crime has been seized.

The woman left her home around 8:30 p.m. on Monday after an argument with her mother, telling her sister she was going to a friend’s house. She intended to return within a few hours but was delayed and began her return journey close to midnight.

Unable to find public transportation, the woman accepted a ride in the van, unaware that two men were inside. Instead of taking her home, the men allegedly drove towards the Gurgaon–Faridabad Road, proceeding beyond the Hanuman temple in isolated areas obscured by dense fog.

Investigators say the woman was held captive in the vehicle for nearly three hours as it traveled through lonely stretches of Faridabad. She reportedly screamed for help during the ordeal, but the poor visibility, cold temperatures, and lack of traffic prevented anyone from hearing her.

The family alleges the two men took turns raping her inside the van before throwing her out of the moving vehicle around 3 a.m. near Mula Hotel at Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar.

The impact of being thrown from the van left the woman with serious facial injuries requiring 12 stitches. She contacted her sister, who transported her to a hospital in Faridabad. Although doctors recommended transfer to a Delhi hospital, the family admitted her to a private facility in the city.

Police have registered a case at Kotwali police station under sections 70(1) (gang rape), 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (acts committed by multiple persons) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway.
