Toronto police launched an investigation Friday morning after a vehicle was reportedly shot at while travelling on the Gardiner Expressway, prompting a temporary highway closure.

Officers responded to the area of South Kingsway and the Gardiner Expressway just before 9:50 a.m. Callers reported that a vehicle had been targeted by gunfire while in transit on the highway.

Upon arrival, investigators discovered evidence confirming a firearm discharge. Despite the confirmation of gunfire, authorities stated that no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.

Traffic Impact and Investigation Status

To facilitate the police investigation, a section of the westbound Gardiner Expressway was closed from Jameson Avenue to South Kingsway. The closure remained in place through the late morning.

In an update provided shortly before 11 a.m., officials announced that the highway had reopened to traffic. The investigation remains ongoing.
