Tyler Donnelly, 19, was fatally stabbed in the neck by three men in Hanworth Park, Feltham, on January 24, 2024. Keith Preddie, 34, Daniel Matos, 23, and Joshua Cowley, 29, were all found guilty of murder at the Old Bailey on Friday, February 27, following a five-week trial.
Hanworth Park Murder: Guilty Verdicts
The three men ambushed Donnelly, who was acting as a runner for a local drug gang, and fatally stabbed him in the neck. He was found the next day in thick grass near his discarded bike, still carrying nearly 30 packages of heroin and crack cocaine and £300 in cash.
Preddie, of Feltham, Matos and Cowley, both of Hounslow, each played a role in the violent attack. Data from Matos’ electronic tag placed him at the location where Donnelly’s body was discovered. CCTV footage also captured the trio entering and leaving the park around the time of the murder.
All three defendants were arrested on January 28. A hoody stained with Tyler’s blood was found in Matos’ room. During initial questioning, all three men denied knowing Donnelly.
The initial trial, which began on January 6, resulted in a hung jury after 22 hours of deliberation. A retrial commenced on January 19 and concluded on February 27 with guilty verdicts for all three defendants. Sentencing is scheduled for March 17 at the Old Bailey.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie of the Metropolitan Police Service stated, “My thoughts and those of my team remain with the family of Tyler, who have all been deeply affected by the senseless violence that night. Tyler’s family have had to sit in court and listen to every harrowing detail of how he was stabbed and left to die alone.” He added, “This case also shows the devastating impact that drugs have on our communities and the link with serious violence.”
