President Prabowo Subianto Conducts Fifth Cabinet Reshuffle

President Prabowo Subianto reshuffled the Red and White Cabinet on Monday, April 27, 2026, marking the fifth reorganization of his administration since taking office in October 2024. The reshuffle involved the appointment of six officials and the redistribution of several key government roles.

Ministerial and Agency Appointments

During the inauguration at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, President Prabowo appointed Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat, Chairman of the Confederation of All Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPSI), as the Minister of Environment and Head of the Environmental Management Agency.

Jumhur replaces Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, who has been reassigned as the Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food. In his new role, Hanif will assist Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan.

Additionally, Abdul Kadir Karding has been appointed as the Head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency. Karding previously served as the Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers before being removed from that post in 2025.

Shifts in Presidential Staff and Communications

The reshuffle introduced significant changes to the government’s communications and administrative apparatus. Muhammad Qodari was appointed Head of the Indonesian Government Communications Agency (Bakom Pemerintah RI), succeeding Angga Raka Prabowo.

To assume this role, Qodari resigned as Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP). That position has now been filled by retired Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) official Dudung Abdurachman, who previously served as Special Advisor for National Defense.

Hasan Nasbi also returns to the administration as the Special Advisor to the President for Communications, having previously left the Presidential Communications Office in April of last year.

Operational Mandates for New Officials

Dudung Abdurachman stated that the KSP would function as a liaison between citizens and the government, promising that the office would be open to public reports 24 hours a day. He noted that the office would evaluate and monitor the programs of various ministries and regional governments.

Hasan Nasbi emphasized the need to strengthen government communications to ensure messages are better understood by the public. Nasbi highlighted that his office will focus on clarifying misconceptions and correcting misinformation regarding the government.

Interaction with Rocky Gerung

The inauguration was attended by academic Rocky Gerung, who was present to support Jumhur Hidayat. Following the ceremony, Gerung engaged in a brief, lighthearted exchange with President Prabowo.

Gerung reported that during their conversation, Prabowo joked about Gerung’s status as a “dissident.” Gerung confirmed the exchange, stating that he responded to the joke by affirming, “I am indeed a dissident.”
