Navigating the Move from Android to Apple’s Ecosystem

Among the primary hurdles is data migration. While contacts, photos, and videos generally transfer without major issues using migration tools like Apple’s Move to iOS application (available via Uswitch), app data does not transfer. Users must manually download applications from the App Store and sign into each service individually. Keyboard Adaptation and Customization Limits

Long-term Android users often find the iOS typing experience frustrating initially, noting that autocorrect can feel aggressive and text prediction less capable. While third-party keyboards like Gboard and SwiftKey are available on iOS, Apple restricts their system access. Users must grant “Full Access,” and iOS will automatically force-switch SwiftKey back to the native Apple keyboard when entering sensitive fields like passwords or credit card numbers.

Regarding device appearance, Android allows extensive customization through custom launchers that can completely redesign how a phone operates. Although iOS has added features allowing users to tint app icons with custom colors and change lock screen controls, its overall customization options remain more restricted.

For consumers weighing a purchase, hardware costs and support structures also factor into the decision. iPhones carry a premium price tag, with the iPhone 17 range priced between £799 for the entry-level model and £1,199 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max in the UK, where over half of smartphone users carry an iPhone. Buyers can also choose previous models like the iPhone 15, iPhone 14, and iPhone 13.
