World Record: Woman Devours Entire Burrito in 34.46 Seconds

Leah Shutkever Devours Burrito in 30.75 Seconds to Reclaim Guinness World Record

Competitive eater Leah Shutkever has reclaimed her Guinness World Record title by consuming an entire burrito in just 30.75 seconds at Guinness World Records headquarters in London, according to reports from September 2026. The 36-year-old British woman from Birmingham defeated the previous record held by American speed eater Miki Sudo, who previously finished the lunchtime favorite in 31.47 seconds.

The Battle for the Burrito Crown at Guinness HQ

The rivalry for the fastest burrito consumption spans several years. According to historical records, Ms Shutkever initially held the title for three years starting in 2019 after setting the mark on the television programme Battle of The Supereaters: 3,000 calories a minute broadcast on Channel 4. In 2022, American competitor Miki Sudo surpassed that benchmark with a 31.47-second finish. Determined to take back her crown, Ms Shutkever traveled to the Guinness World Records headquarters in London to make it a wrap and knocked 0.72 seconds off the American’s time, clocking in at 30.75 seconds.

Reflecting on her career in competitive eating and her television appearance, Ms Shutkever stated: My origin story of breaking Guinness World Records titles is one that I’ll never get bored of.

She detailed how her journey began:

I had newly started up a YouTube channel doing food challenges, and I found an official record of fastest time to eat a Chocolate Orange, and I had a go, filmed it for YouTube, posted it, and thought nothing else of it.

I was contacted by a TV show that was filming, and they wanted me to officially attempt the record on a stage with an Adjudicator. I managed to break the record and I’ve never in my life felt a level of euphoria like it, and I’ve chased that feeling ever since.

Setting Two Additional World Records on the Same Day

Beyond reclaiming her signature title, Ms Shutkever’s plate was not yet clean as she went on to set two more World Records during her visit to London. She secured the record for the most churros eaten in one minute by wolfing down eight of the treats. Additionally, she set the record for the most strawberries eaten in one minute after demolishing 613g of the berries, which is equivalent to around 40 average-sized strawberries.

With these latest additions, the athlete already has 42 world records to her name. Her prior achievements include eating a Domino’s pizza in under a minute and consuming a Terry’s Chocolate Orange in 57 seconds. Discussing the gravity of these accomplishments, she noted:

Breaking records is one of the proudest experiences of my entire life and that is including having a degree in architecture. Achieving my degree was nice, but breaking record holds such a gravity that I can’t even explain.

Balancing Extreme Eating With a Strict Fitness Regimen

Away from the competitive eating stage, Ms Shutkever maintains a rigorous training routine. Described as a self-confessed gym addict, she trains nearly every day in order to keep in shape in between eating challenges, heading to the gym six times a week. Her passion for fitness developed after she was an overweight kid and realized the importance of nutrition in adulthood.

Explaining her lifestyle balance, she shared:

Fitness is my life and identity, it’s what I have always done, but competitive eating is my job, and I like to keep them both running equally in my life. I love going through life with people looking at me and having no idea what I do for a living.

Regarding her approach to diet and health, she added:

I was an overweight kid, and very early on in my life I learnt a lot about nutrition and fitness, I was into sports and kept active. In terms of eating, it all boils down to calories in versus calories out, and everything in moderation.
