According to sportsmole.co.uk, James Pearce of The Athletic reported that the underlying medical issue is not considered serious, and medical staff anticipate the player will quickly resume full training while the squad continues its tour of the United States. The French Under-21 international has spent over five months without game-time after sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury in February at Rennes, which occurred just days after his transfer agreement was finalized on transfer deadline day in January. Jacquet officially completed his switch to Merseyside at the start of July.

Integration on the US Tour and Future Prospects

Following the fixture against Sunderland, Liverpool have further matches scheduled on their tour of the United States, facing Wrexham on July 29 and taking on Leeds United in Chicago at the start of August, providing potential opportunities for Jacquet to make his unofficial debut. Following the American tour, the Reds face Monaco and Como at Anfield on August 9 and 16 before beginning their 2026-27 Premier League campaign away against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Head coach Andoni Iraola spoke regarding the defender’s integration, stating that Jacquet possesses all the necessary tools for his position and was ready to go from the beginning, having already trained with the under-21s following his recovery. Speaking to Stan Sport and The Mirror about his early weeks at the club, Jacquet discussed his new teammates, mentioning that he spends a lot of time talking with Trey Nyoni, Leo Giovanni Leoni, Hugo Ekitike, and Jeremie Frimpong.

Lineup Adjustments in Nashville

Jacquet’s absence from the opening friendly paved the way for teenage defender Mor Talla Ndiaye to start alongside Joe Gomez, who captained the side against Sunderland. The starting lineup in Nashville featured Giorgi Mamardashvili in goal, supported by a back four of Jeremie Frimpong, Joe Gomez, Mor Talla Ndiaye, and Kostas Tsimikas. James McConnell and Curtis Jones lined up in midfield alongside Kieran Morrison, while Harvey Elliott, Will Wright, and Rio Ngumoha formed the attack.
