Tyler Tolbert’s Performance Against the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets

Tolbert’s remarkable tear unfolded across three games from Saturday through Tuesday. The 28-year-old outfielder went 2-for-2 against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, followed by a perfect 5-for-5 performance against Philadelphia on Monday, and added another 5-for-6 showing against the New York Mets on Tuesday before his streak finally came to a halt.

Walt Dropo and Johnny Kling Historical Records

With the 12-hit run, Tolbert joined an exclusive club. According to the reporting, only two other players in MLB history have recorded 12 hits in consecutive plate appearances: Walt Dropo for the Detroit Tigers in 1952, and Johnny Kling for the Chicago Orphans in 1902.

Along the way, Tolbert also surpassed the Kansas City Royals franchise record, eclipsing the previous mark of eight consecutive plate appearances with a hit.

Ninth Inning Flyout Against the Mets

Tolbert’s streak officially ended in the ninth inning against the Mets when he hit a flyout.

Tyler Tolbert, Kansas City Royals outfielder, remarked that anytime you get consecutive hits it is a good day, but pointed out that the game is hard since you can do everything right and still get out, noting that he knows the game can humble you, which is why he simply tries not to get too high or too low and just takes it one pitch and one day at a time.

Primarily known for his speed on the basepaths, he has accumulated 10 stolen bases, two home runs, and a .976 OPS, building upon the .280 batting average he posted in 50 at-bats as a rookie in 2025.
