Egypt University Admission Coordination Projects One Percent Drop For Science Track

Students and parents across Egypt are turning their attention toward the upcoming university admission coordination process for the 2026–2027 academic year. With the electronic coordination website preparing to open for preference registration shortly after the release of the secondary school examination results, initial indicators point toward shifting cutoffs across high-demand faculties.

Preliminary Thresholds and Expected Percentage Drops for Medicine and Science Tracks

Initial indicators for the 2026 university coordination rely heavily on the minimum thresholds recorded during last year’s admissions, adjusted against current success rates, student numbers, and available capacities according to reporting from the educational sector.

For context on top-tier placement benchmarks, last year’s floor figures established baseline expectations. Petroleum and mining engineering in Suez recorded a minimum threshold of 305 marks, representing 95.31%, while Cairo and Mansoura medicine faculties accepted students from 303.5 marks, or 94.84%. Other notable medical thresholds from the prior cycle included Alexandria and Damietta at 94.53%, Zagazig at 94.69%, and Ain Shams at 94.06%.

Capacity Adjustments and Second-Stage Competition Pressures

Behind the projected score shifts lies a deliberate policy adjustment. The Supreme Coordination Committee has pursued a direction to reduce accepted student capacities in high-demand faculties by 10% compared to the prior year as reported by digital outlets covering the educational portfolio. Simultaneously, grade cumulative brackets and student score tiers indicate an overall reduction in grade percentages reaching up to 4% across specific segments.

While science and mathematics track minimums may dip in the opening round, second-stage applicants face a different dynamic. Observers note that second-stage coordination thresholds are projected to rise due to larger student volumes than last year and a heavy accumulation of score ranges competing in those brackets. Even so, educators anticipate that vacant seats will remain available for second-stage students within engineering, computers and information, and artificial intelligence faculties.

Aptitude Test Deadlines and Electronic Registration Procedures

Ahead of the primary coordination rounds, the Ministry of Higher Education opened electronic registration for aptitude tests on July 17, 2026. Official examinations inside university faculties commenced on July 19, 2026. Candidates are required to settle required testing fees electronically prior to their scheduled exam dates through the official portal.

To complete registration for these mandatory exams, students must access the portal, enter their national ID and seat numbers, select their preferred faculty and test type, and print the reservation receipt containing the precise date and location. Ministry guidelines mandate that aptitude tests may be taken only once per specialty, with no option for re-examination in the event of a failing score, and results are published electronically without issuing paper certificates.
