PSI Benchmark Flooded With Five Major Earnings Reports

According to Jornaldenegocios, investors in Lisbon face a heavy schedule as five of the sixteen companies composing the Portuguese benchmark present their financial accounts. Sonae, BCP, EDP, EDP Renewables, and Corticeira Amorim are releasing their results. With the exception of EDPR, which scheduled its release before the opening bell, all these benchmark components are presenting their accounts after the close of the trading session.

Beyond the PSI highlight, other major domestic enterprises are also reporting. Jerónimo Martins is delivering accounts to the market, while the corporate calendar marks the final deadline for submitting binding proposals for the privatization of TAP. According to Jornaldenegocios, only Air France-KLM and Deutsche Lufthansa remain in the running for the airline.

CTT Profits Sink 41.6% Amid Regulatory Pressures

Investors are reacting to newly published figures from CTT Correios de Portugal. According to Jornaldenegocios, CTT reported first-half profits of 12.9 million euros on Tuesday after the market closed. The company’s profits sank 41.6% during the first six months of the year, weighed down by regulatory fees levied on packages originating in China and pressures within its business dealings with DHL.

Federal Reserve Rate Decision and International Earnings

Across the Atlantic, US markets absorb major corporate updates alongside monetary policy. Microsoft and Meta are following the earnings trend, while the Federal Open Market Committee announces its latest interest rate decision. According to Jornaldenegocios, economists expect interest rates to remain unchanged at this meeting, which marks the second gathering presided over by Kevin Warsh. Although the Federal Reserve head has promised fewer hints regarding the future trajectory of borrowing costs, market attention remains firmly fixed on the president’s upcoming speech.
