An unprovoked drone attack struck the civilian beach area of Arkhipo-Osipovka, a coastal community near Gelendzhik, on the morning of August 3. According to the operational headquarters of Kuban, the strike killed seven individuals, including three children. Another 40 people sustained injuries of varying severity, prompting an immediate mobilization of regional emergency personnel, local volunteers, and specialized medical disaster teams.
Casualties and Emergency Medical Response in Gelendzhik
Emergency response units rushed to the impact sites immediately following the debris fall to assist the wounded victims. Medical transport teams, including specialized disaster medicine brigades dispatched from Krasnodar alongside doctors from Tuapse, deployed rapidly to support local facilities.
According to updates from the Kuban operational headquarters, medical professionals hospitalized 21 victims across healthcare institutions in Gelendzhik, the Tuapse district, and Goryachy Klyuch, while 19 others received necessary outpatient care. Assistant to the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Alexei Kuznetsov stated that doctors are conducting ongoing telemedical consultations with specialists at federal medical centers to manage the critical cases.
Local leadership also moved to reinforce overburdened health facilities. Gelendzhik municipal head Alexei Bogodistov noted that the local rural hospital was reinforced by doctors from the city hospital and medical practitioners from a nearby sanatorium. Additionally, two psychologists are working on site alongside community volunteers providing support to affected residents and families.
Airspace Restrictions and Ongoing Security Threats
The security situation in the region remains highly volatile. Sirens sounded again across Gelendzhik as Mayor Alexei Bogodistov issued warnings regarding a renewed drone attack threat. In response to the persistent security risks, federal aviation authorities implemented temporary restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft at the airport, alongside airspace closures across designated zones within the Krasnodar Territory.
While varying figures regarding the severity of injuries appeared across initial regional updates—with the total number of injured reaching 47 according to regional reporting—health authorities confirmed that nine individuals remain in critical condition as local emergency services maintain their high-alert posture.
Diplomatic Condemnation From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The tragedy drew sharp condemnation from Moscow. Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova issued a blistering statement pointing the finger at Western governments for supporting the military apparatus directing these strikes.
