NBC has announced a new format for the 31st season of its competition series, The Voice: Celebrity, which is scheduled to broadcast in 2027. The upcoming “eventized” season will feature a contestant pool consisting of celebrities rather than unknown singers, marking the first time the franchise has utilized an all-celebrity cast.
New Coaching Panel and Hosting Changes
Joe Jonas will make his coaching debut for the U.S. version of the show in Season 31. While Jonas previously served as a coach for the Australian version of The Voice in 2018, he follows his brother, Nick Jonas, who coached during seasons 18 and 20. Their eldest brother, Kevin Jonas, appeared as a Team Nick battle advisor in 2020 but has not yet been a coach.
Jonas will be joined by coaches Queen Latifah and Riley Green. Both Latifah and Green are making their initial coaching debuts in Season 30, which begins airing Monday, Sept. 21, and will return for the celebrity edition in 2027. Season 31 will utilize a three-coach panel instead of the traditional four. According to cadillacnews.com, this reduction is due to a shorter programming window caused by NBC’s spring broadcasts of NBA games; a fourth coach would result in teams that are too small for the condensed schedule.
The series will also introduce a new host, Keke Palmer, who previously hosted the NBC game show Password. Palmer takes over duties from longtime emcee Carson Daly, who is stepping back to spend more time on the East Coast with his family and his work on the Today show. Daly will remain with the production as a producer for the season.
Celebrity Contestants and Format Updates
While the specific cast list has not yet been released, NBC stated that the competition will tap a wide range of celebrities, including:
- Actors and musicians
- Influencers and athletes
- Comedians and reality television stars
Production Timeline and Scheduling
The Voice: Celebrity is already filming in Los Angeles as of the summer of 2026, with Blind Auditions having filmed at the end of June. The season is expected to air in the spring of 2027, typically when spring seasons premiere in early March or mid-February. It remains unclear if the celebrity season will be entirely pre-taped or if Live Shows will return.
This new iteration follows the Battle of the Champions
theme of Season 29, which aired in spring 2026 and was also an eventized season with three coaches. In that previous iteration, Adam Levine and his mentee, Alexia Jayy, celebrated a win.
