The flight marked the 85th Falcon 9 launch for SpaceX this year. The broadband megaconstellation continues to expand global internet access, delivering connectivity to remote regions where traditional infrastructure remains unavailable. In addition to standard home and enterprise connections, the constellation supports in-flight Wi-Fi networks and direct-to-cell capabilities for select service providers.
Orbital Mechanic Mission Launches from Cape Canaveral
While the West Coast operation focused on internet distribution, a separate Falcon 9 mission lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Tuesday to carry out maintenance work in orbit. WSVN reported that this rocket acts as a specialized space mechanic equipped with robotic arms designed to inspect, repair, and install life-extending equipment on aging spacecraft.

These specialized jetpacks are engineered to take over propulsion and steering responsibilities for older satellites already in orbit. By assuming attitude control and station-keeping duties, the upgrade kits can extend the operational lifespan of older spacecraft by up to eight additional years.
